Windermere Hotel

Had such a wonderful experience at The Windermere. Awesome location ! Short walk to watch the beautiful sunsets and walk across the street to see the sunrise. Ladies at the front desk were all so helpful and kind. The porter was fast and efficient. The spacious front porch offers a great view of the lake. Rooms had comfortable beds and ample room. Just a lovely place! Will return.

Great location and gorgeous views. Short walk from ferry, shops and food. You’re across the street from the water so you can walk or watch the views from the porch. Appreciated the free water and complimentary breakfast options (small but appreciated if you wanted a quick bite before going out on your day). Beds were comfy and didn’t notice any noise issues.

The first time I stayed at the Windemere was about 35 years ago with a girlfriend/coworker. We both absolutely loved the accommodations and the location is gorgeous. View of Round Island, the Lighthouse and of course, Mackinac Bridge. I've returned several times since with the same friend. Up until I married 29 years ago. My husband and I have visited the Island and brought our children when they were older. Just finished our second weekend visit of the year. We always stay at Windemere. Not just for the things previously mention, but for the staff who is always friendly. Robert is especially helpful with offering suggestions for activities and just chatting. Great place to stay. I hope to continue visiting every year until I can't. After all these years I still haven't taken advantage of simply sitting on the relaxing front porch at Windemere. Maybe next year!

My Mother and I have been staying at The Windermere since 2017! We absolutely love staying here and wouldn’t even consider anyplace else. We both love sitting on the front porch The proximity to stores and restaurants is a plus! The staff is so friendly. We look forward to our fall vacation every year.

Not the first time on the island but the first time staying overnight there. & would definitely recommend it. Loved this place! So homey & comfortable. Nice continental breakfast. Just wish they had some of it available in the evenings for snacks & drinks. No fridge or microwave in the room but they had them available in the dining room. The only complaint I had was the bathroom door wouldn't latch on our room so it wouldn't stay closed. When I told the housekeeper, she said she knew & that maintenance would fix it when they closed for the season! I really think things like that should be fixed ASAP because it was a big inconvenience for us! But overall we loved it & would definitely stay there again! The location & the view of the lake from the porch was great! We could watch the sunrise &sunset both from the beach across the street!

The staff were incredibly hospitable, always ready to help with a smile. We especially enjoyed the peaceful mornings on the front porch and taking in the breathtaking views of the Straits of Mackinac. The location is also ideal—just a short walk from the ferry docks and close to the island's main attractions, yet far enough to enjoy some tranquility. Overall, our stay at the Windermere Hotel was a wonderful blend of relaxation and nostalgia. We highly recommend it for anyone looking to experience the charm of Mackinac Island with a touch of classic hospitality.

Clean rooms. View from our room on the front of the house, 2nd floor was great. Looked over the park area across the street and then the water. No TV in rooms which was great for getting away from devices. There was free WiFi if you had to have it. In room air conditioning. Beautiful front porch with rocking chat and benches to enjoy the view.

This is where we stay every time we visit Mackinac. It has the best front porch of all the hotels on Main St, and although on the main street, it's at the end so you do have a little bit of privacy/seclusion. The hotel itself is very clean and adorable and the service is great. Highly recommended.
